When Jade, an Event Company Director from Kemberton, and Peter, a Trade Supervisor from Clitheroe, decided to tie the knot, they envisioned a champagne celebration as vibrant and beautiful as their love story. Their journey together began 3.5 years ago on a memorable night out in Manchester. Culminating in a breathtaking wedding on October 22, 2022, at the stunning Anassa Hotel in Cyprus.
The Perfect Proposal
Peter’s proposal was nothing short of spectacular. On Jade’s 40th birthday, a week after Covid restrictions lifted, Peter planned a surprise party at their home. As the cake made its entrance, Peter seized the moment. Making a heartfelt speech and a nod to the DJ, his best friend and future best man handed the ring box. As he got down on one knee, Jade was presented with a stunning ‘floating’ diamond set on platinum. Surrounded by more diamonds—a perfect ring for a perfect moment.
The Journey to Cyprus
The decision to get married in Cyprus was serendipitous. A parent from Jade’s son’s village school suggested it, and destination wedding planner Matthew Oliver highly recommended the Anassa Hotel. Coincidentally, other parents from the school, fellow photographers, had voted for Nick, their photographer, for an award the previous year. This small-world connection made the decision feel just right.
The Dress and Accessories
Jade’s wedding dress was a masterpiece by the renowned designer Galia Lahav, sourced from Tilly Trotters, a bridal boutique she frequently collaborated with. Made of pure silk with silhouette panels, her dress featured a four-tone train, and a corset, was a last-minute find that Jade fell in love with instantly. She accessorized with a bracelet gifted by Peter on the wedding morning, matching earrings with her bridesmaids, and a simple champagne-colored bow in her hair, inspired by a Kate Hudson photoshoot.
Her something old was her late grandmother’s wedding ring, sewn into her garter with a blue ribbon, and her something borrowed was her mother’s Jimmy Choo clutch bag, which she managed to keep.
Peter looked dashing in a cream linen waistcoat and suit trousers, complemented by brown shoes and a matching belt. They opted for a minimalist look without cravats or ties, featuring simple buttonholes. The best man, ushers, and page boys wore similar outfits, with the boys in a slightly less formal version.
The bridesmaids wore elegant champagne silk slip dresses, while the flower girls donned traditional tulle dresses with a bow at the back, complementing Jade’s attire. The combination of modern and classic styles added a touch of timeless elegance to the bridal party.
The Venue: Anassa Hotel
The Anassa Hotel in Cyprus was recommended by Matthew Oliver Weddings and endorsed by the couple’s best man and friends who had lived in Cyprus. From their first meeting with Dora, the wedding planner, Jade and Peter knew they were in safe hands. A visit six months before the wedding solidified their decision, as they fell in love with the venue’s beauty and ambiance.
The Celebration
The wedding day was a symphony of peach, white, and champagne tones, with abundant florals creating a romantic and enchanting atmosphere. The welcome drink reception featured white chocolate-dipped strawberries, setting the tone for a luxurious event. The menu included scallops to start and a blade of beef for the main course, all prepared to perfection by the hotel chef, who also crafted their exquisite three-tiered wedding cake adorned with sugar flowers.
Aimie, their DJ and singer, provided outstanding entertainment throughout the night. Their first dance was to Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight,” a nostalgic nod to their shared love for 80s music.
The floral arrangements included white and peach garden roses, chosen for their neutral, romantic appeal. The venue was adorned with a flower arch at the altar, candles, and low-level floral centerpieces with tapered candles, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The favours were thoughtful and luxurious: miniature Penhaligons perfumes for the ladies and personalized bracelets for the children.
The highlight of the day for Jade and Peter was their photo session. It was a time for just the two of them to soak in the moment, have fun, and enjoy a few private moments with a glass of champagne in hand, thanks to their attentive photographer, Nick.
Despite a minor hiccup with a no-show makeup artist, the hotel spa team saved the day, and Jade even stepped in to do her bridesmaids’ base makeup. Her experience as a wedding planner for 15 years taught her the importance of accepting help when offered and planning ahead.
Jade and Peter’s wedding was a testament to their love, meticulous planning, and the beauty of celebrating with family and friends. It was a day filled with joy, elegance, and unforgettable moments—a true fairytale come to life.
